What and how is it mounted?
Decor elements are most often mounted on facade tile glue. There are many names: glue for thermal insulation for gluing insulating panels, facade for tiles and others. Dry in bags is mixed with water.
Pros:
– time-tested polymineral glue. Used for insulation and tiling, it is convenient to work, inexpensive
Less:
– As with most cement dry mixtures, it is not elastic, so a mandatory condition for reliable installation is protection against penetration of water into the seams.
A comb spreads the adhesive solution and “clings” to the wall, there is nothing complicated. For support, thin nails are usually used which are “stuck” into the foam (if the wall is insulated) or dowels. Once again it’s better not to hole the decor, but to drive the nail below the molding. When the glue dries the nails get to. Adhesive moldings, leaving a seam about 1mm together for sealant
Dowels or long self-tapping screws (self-tapping screws are yellow, max 200 mm long) should be used on large elements, for example cornices. If the elements are very large and even the longest self-cutter can not be fixed, you can use the bars of the reinforcement, which are driven into the wall through the decor element
Than sawing?
How much we make the cuts depends a lot. For example, the quality of installation, our time spent on the installation and, of course, we will not spoil the excess material.
You can cut the decor with an ordinary wood hacksaw by marking the corners with a square or with a stool. But I advise you to use an electric trimming. If you need to mount more than a hundred meters of décor for the whole house with 45 degrees blades, it’s better to have your own or rent it. The bigger the circle and the higher the exit. Good trimming with a circle of 255-305 mm and a radius of 300-450 mm. Even if the decor element does not fully saw off, the notch is enough to finish it like a hacksaw. It saves time!
Close the seams.
First of all I want to say that it’s better to calculate by windows and other openings where you can use moldings less than 2 meters so that there is no waste. The manufacturer can order in size. For example, the window size is 1.5 * 1.5. If we frame the circle and the width of the molding 100 mm, it is better to order 4 elements at 1.75 m (5 cm stock).
We seal the seams with a sealant. Modern sealants are painted and stretched like silicone. I advise Soudal Fix all. These are new hybrid sealants. All joints are smeared with these sealants. Puttying just putty and wipe a good result will not. If the wall is insulated, the facade will constantly expand and shrink. The sealant will act as a rubber clutch and will not let the seam crack.
Cornices and other elements where it is necessary to join in length, it is better to order with places under the strips of the grid. Strips of mesh are embedded in the putty * (use only the manufacturer’s special filler) and gently squeezed. Shpaklevku must be constantly mixed, so that it was the right consistency. After shpaklyuem one more time and after drying rubbing with coarse sandpaper R60-P80. Get an ideal seam that will never crack. It is better not to use a serpent for gypsum plaster work, especially on thick cornices. It is necessary to cut strips from a large roll (cell 5×5) which is used for insulation.
At what stage should we mount?
The decor is usually mounted on the facade “on black”. Those. insulated without “decorative” and painting. If large crevices have formed between the wall and the decor after the decor has been installed and the thickness of the decorative coating does not overlap, they must be plastered with a cool solution or with a filler for decor. * When we put the decorative coating, we protect the places where the decor is adhered against water ingress.
If we are assembling on a finished painted facade, all contiguities must be sealed, protecting it from water. You can paint the decor at first, and then go through a transparent silicone or seal up the soudal all fix and then paint with the sealant.
After that, we admire our beautiful house.
